Renault Megane R26.R
Renault has given us some brilliantly barmy hot hatchbacks but they look like librarians next to this. The Renaultsport Megane R26.R was the last hurrah of the previous generation Megane family hatch. Thanks to the removal of the rear seats, plastic windows and other weight-saving mods, it was 123kg lighter than the already rapid Megane R26.
Track tyres, tweaked suspension and 227hp helped the R26.R set a Nürburgring lap record for a front-wheel-drive car. The whoosh of the optional titanium exhaust under acceleration sounds like you've got a tornado in the boot.

I love my cars and everything fast but the one thing that puts me off this Audi is the price, just think what else is on offer for 41 grand, porsche maybe. Plus every time I told someone what car I had I couldn't just say I have an Audi A1 supermini.... I'd have to justify spending all that money by adding that it has 249bhp and four wheel drive.

Absolutly amazing. Well done to Audi for yet again having the balls to build the car enthusiast a decent car. 4wd is the only way to have proper use of the sort of power it is handing out. Unlike the new Focus rs which is again going to try to put 300bhp through the front wheels....... Sort it out Ford lets have another iconic performance Ford that one day may hold its own against the legend of the Escos. Oooo i'm all excited, If I wasn't having an r35 would be so tempted.

gary raj needs to stop watching fast and the furious bmw and audi are chavvy cars... ok mate if i turnt up at your house and said here you go mate a top of the range audi rs3 you wud say no its too chavvy for my posh detatched house...mmm dont think think so mate..skylines ent nothing special now thats and over priced car

I like the audi but it's a bit OTT with that Roof Extension I think the builder must of had to much tea! If your putting that on top it should be there for a reason - say 0-62 4.0 and 1/4 mile in 12.00 sec dead! top out 185.ish - with the handling to match! Then you might be able to call it crazy!
The M1 is the word. However the RS 3 does a much better job.
What is it with these half measure. I bet the insure would still be the same or many be not! 
But I do like the wheels if they are as arch filling as they look.....?

Looks pretty naff compared to a BMW 1M Coupe, which is way faster, much better to look at and being a fantastic RWD chassis it offers far more appeal to the purist, plus it has a useable boot space. In fact the regular 130i hatchback is a better and faster car. Small hatchbacks with daft spoilers just look like chav mobiles.
