The top 10 killer in-car snacks
The worst form of distraction for a driver isn’t yapping on their phone or replying to a text message apparently, but munching on a Big Mac or taking a swig of coffee.
Research carried out by the USA’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) revealed that those who eat and drive increase the odds of an accident by 80% and are involved in the majority of near-miss accidents.
In fact, the health-and-safety conscious NHTSA even went so far as to list the 10 most dangerous foods and drinks for a driver. Here they are – the foods that might be more than just a killer for your waistline.

the only thing you should do in a car is drive and concentrate on the road. no eating, no putting make up on. no nothing. even the radio and stereo should not have any controls on them that are not on the steering column. anything that takes your mind off what your doing. even having kids in the car they talk to you directly and don't understand when they are asking you to look that its dangerous.
you only have to take your mind off the road for a split second and you can crash.
its okay saying you can eat and drink but they all have to be opened or got out of another container which means looking down. basically if your hungry stop the car. stop the car if you want to do something else, listening to music is fine but if you have to look down to the stereo or reach to change cd or now days look at your ipod they are all dangerous and then you are a danger to others that might not be doing anything wrong. the only trouble is policing it. I get sick of seeing people on there phones in cars. don't answer it. so policing eating and drinking will be on the same scale.
this is my opinion, I know sometimes you might want something really trivial but if the temptation is removed. maybe the car companies should make the driver side enclosed like a bus or coach driver so you cant interact with them. other people might think its silly or maybe you have to set everything before you move off, its okay building the cars to withstand impact but maybe by taking away temptation to not concentrate in the first place might be more preventative than any air bag ever could be.
