Residents of the British Isles are no strangers to washout summers but even by our rain-sodden standards, 2012 has been damp in the extreme. As usual, motorists have been one of the groups to bear the brunt of the weather as excessive water levels have brought chaos to the roads.

So far in the summer of 2012, it seems like the only respites from the perpetual drizzle have been the bouts of torrential rain. It really has chucked it down and if it wasn't for the famed British stiff upper lip, we might have got a little bit upset about it.

So, in the spirit of smiling through adversity, here's our gallery showing the summer 2012 weather at its worst.

Some time ago a flood occurred just along the road from where I used to live. I donned my wellies and assisted drivers to get through the flood by telling them to stay in the middle of the road, use a low gear and high revs. (so that water would not go up the exhaust pipe). One idiot thought he knew better and just ploughed through. Having flooded his engine, it naturally came to a shuddering halt right in the middle of the flood. I let him stew in his own juice! Thumbs up if I was right. Thumbs down if I should have gone to help him.

Now just to add a little more to the story (at this stage it is 22 thumbs up and 4 thumbs down). Other neighbours, who had started to help, got this chap out of his predicament. He vainly tired to start the engine. I told him to take out all the spark plugs and turn the engine over. Then dry the spark plugs. This time he listened to me. Result? 4 fountains of water came out of the spark plug holes and once the plugs had been dried and reinserted, after a little effort and much coughing and spluttering the engine fired up.

The smug looking sod in the above picture should pay for his own stupid negligence.

What morons go out into floods like this?   Why don't they just stay away?   Now they will expect the insurance companies to pay out for thr damage which will put up all our premiums.

The moron "showering" a pedestrian is committing a road traffic offence which is punishable with a fine and licence endorsement!  The muppet trying to see how high he can get the bow wave is heading towards a flooded and wrecked engine!
The Henley shot actually shows and amphibious car!

Normally on these motoring articles I like to throw in a "Buy a Mondeo !", just to annoy though they are REALLY good cars, but in these cases I will say stay at home you dum-dums.

Unless there is a life-threatening reason to force you to drive through such floods, going out will get you NOWHERE, and will only end up with a wet narse.

Buy a Boat !.

Peace,
