As a general rule, cars are best driven on dry land but there are vehicles that can venture outside their comfort zone and take to the water like a, er, duck. These amphibious cars could be just the thing with more floods on the horizon.

Many water-going cars are constructed in sheds by eccentric individuals with too much time on their hands but amphibious cars are becoming more commercially available.

Take this one for example, the Gibbs Quadski. We're told it's the world's first commercially available high-speed amphibious vehicle and you can pick 'em up from US dealers for the equivalent of £25,000.
