Jeremy Clarkson has apologised after his controversial comments on the BBC's One Show when he suggested public sector workers should be "shot" in front of their families for their recent strike action over pensions.

He said: "I didn't for a moment intend these remarks to be taken seriously - as I believe is clear if they're seen in context. If the BBC and I have caused any offence, I'm quite happy to apologise for it alongside them."

personally I would have him taken out and have him executed in front of his family !! But before you get in a huff and `seek urgent legal advice`  Jeremy... I`m Sorry....

Then I would advise Unison to get a sense of humour... I bet the Union bosses have their pension tied up safely!

For god's sake, he's just voicing what everyone in the private sector thinks. My old man works as a window cleaner, 6 days a week, all year, and works his knackers off, and the last thing he needs whilst he's trying to put bread on the table is to hear a bunch of whining ungrateful slackers forcing him to take the day off work to care for my younger sister. Fortunately, as my dad has worked hard enough, I am able to go to a private school, and the possibility of a strike was never mentioned here. In short, learn to take the hardships that people in the private sector have been dealing with for a great amount of time, and don't ever, ever, ever forget that your wages come out of the private sector's pockets. Your not going to get any sympathy from us, so quite frankly you can all bugger off.

Whether you agree with him or otherwise he is entitled to his opinion or to making bad jokes whichever applies. That is called democracy.

If the BBC sacks Jeremy Clarkson they will be making a very big mistake. I have had a great laugh reading all the things he has said over years.

Isn't it great to have a voice to be able to say any thing you want, oh sorry we live in Britain where that seems to have been taken away from us.  Clarkson was voicing his opinion as does every body else he just did it on live tv, any body could see he was laughing inside knowing the response he would get ( and he did ) also remember he has just released a video. All those who have been offended  should look around them and listen may be they would learn something.  Only this week a young army cadet was refused the honour of receiving there Duke of Edinburgh certificate from there lord mayor (Sein Fein) in Belfast just because they where in the army cadets. Now that is offensive.

Watched the show and loved every second

Any one with an ounce of sense would not have taken what he was saying as being serious but many would agree with him

Lets not loose one of the best entertainers in the beeb

also isn't it a bit brainless for people on this forum to be insulting each other

Well done JC..............you have voiced what millions of private sector workers are thinking!

The TUC and Unions stood by and did sweet FA as private sector jobs were lost and pensions were robbed by Blair and Brown! It is obvious that the TUC only represents public sector workers now.................and as such doesn't give a toss for anybody employed in the private sector. The public sector and their unions seem to think that the financial crisis created by banks, under-regulated by Gordon Brown and the union sponsored Labour government, should be paid for by only the private sector and they should be immune from any cutbacks.................news for you in the public sector..................you are selfish and greedy and have little support from the rest of the country!

To the BBC .......shame on you apologising..............what ever happened to free speech!!!!

To the Labour party.............why shouldn't the public sector suffer like the private sector??

Personally id like to see theactaul  minority of people who turn up for work in the public sector  simply to keep warm all thrown on the dole.  I've see a lot of good people in the public sector betrayed by poor managers and unions and its them that I really feel sorry for. As for Jezza. Good on him for not being another pc zealot and for speaking his mind. He's a rare breed.  I may not totally agree with him but I agree with his right to say it...just like those beardo loons who incite racial intolerance in the name of Islam.  Get over it. Move on.

I think people need to lighten up and get a sense of humour from somewhere, maybe Clarkson could sell them one. He is an entertainer people so get over yourselves. As for the strikers, I agree with them the government are screwing them over however they do still have very very good pensions still.

Put clarkson in charge of the pay talks that would sort out the money grabbing unions and union members.
