Inside the brand new James Bond car exhibition at Beaulieu: James Bond first burst onto our cinema screens in 1962 and right from the start the films always included beautiful women, criminal masterminds with plans for world domination and exciting cars - generally with amazing gadgets.

The Beaulieu National Motor Museum's brand-new 'Bond In Motion' exhibition has gathered together the best loved and most iconic of the Bond vehicles to present the largest collection of Bond vehicles ever seen in one place.

The eagerly anticipated 23rd Bond film, Skyfall is set to be released in October 2012 and some of the vehicles used in that will appear at the exhibition once filming is complete. The Beaulieu exhibition runs until December 2012.

I went to see the exhibition the first day it opened.

I was not disappointed, the cars there are the originals from the films, and you can get right up to them to check them out.

There were plenty of people there, like me, having a great time.

The fact that Beaulieu also has a Top Gear exhibition was a bonus, this is a real must for Bond fans, and plenty of other cars there too, this year is the 60th anniversary of th opening of the National Motor museum.

Of all the James Bond cars,my two favourites are the Aston Martin DB5 used in Goldfinger (1964)

My other favourite is the BMW750iL as used in Tomorrow Never Dies (1997)

The DB5 is a Beautiful Bond Car, I think Aston Martin should re-launch the DB5 with modern technology for production or maybe introduce it in a new bond film.

Yet it's most remembered for a continuity mistake; when the car comes out the other end of the alley tilted on the opposite side to when it went in.

________________________________________________________________________

Are you sure, as I seem to remember a shot from inside the car whilst in the alley

when he levels the car then tips it onto the other wheels, though how this would be

possible in a 'narrow' alley I'm not sure?

What I would like to see is the boat Bond uses to go after the girl in the Thames sequence in The World Is Not Enough. It was the second greatest sequence ever. Anyone remember it small and black and he even dived under water with it for a few seconds after he stole it from Q in MI6 Headquarters?

Hey Tug, you're right there was a clip inside the car to show it flipping from one side to the other, but they only inserted this later when then realised they'd filmed the car coming out of the alley on the  wrong wheels! As you say, if the alleyway had been wide enough to do that then they wouldnt have needed to go on 2 wheels at all!

Loving the Mustang Mach 1. One of the best ever Bond scene's with J.W. Pepper. "You're not gonna do what I think you're gonna do" Bond "I sure ammmmm boy"

A great collection of Bond-mobiles, but where is the SKYSHIP 500 used in A View to a Kill - OK, the real thing obviously not possible, but didn't any of the incredible Pinewood mock-ups survive?

@Tug and Andy- Having just watched the scene, what you 2 are referring to is the camera slide from the girl (cant remember her name, sorry!) to Bond but the camera move does imply that the car has switched wheels. It would be physically impossible for the car to switch wheels in that alleyway so, in my books, is a very poor continuity error.

Back to the article though- The DB5 is beautiful and DBS is stunning too

They are passing these cars off  as the originals , which I very much doubt , in those days of  filming nobody suspected  what some of these iconic  cars would be worth . Some famous vehicles have never  surfaced  , and  more than a dozen cars were made for one sequence in a lot of  James Bond  films  , so de-valuing  them .

the daniel craig bond films just arent bond anymore in my opinion you can even tell from his vehicles  :(

Disappointed that their were more gimmick vehicles than cars on this saw the car collection at Goodwood revival and it was the real deal with twice as many cars, only one missing was the Sunbeam Alpine mk 4, which was borrowed from the high Commissioner of Jamaica's wife for a small fee and a meeting of the stars for dinner, for 3 days to film car chase, reason being the film budget of first film was so small because of doubts of the idea taking of ! which is probable in a land fill or in use as a chicken house now
