The Goodwood Revival 2012 is taking place over the weekend in Sussex. It is a racing event that celebrates the heyday of the Goodwood motoring circuit in Sussex by racing cars from the 1948 to 1966 period along the famous - and ferociously fast - racetrack.

The circuit has an aerodrome in the middle, which means planes (think Spitfires, Hurricanes, even Mustangs) get a look in as well.

The rules on attendance are strict: dress for the occasion! Take a look at our gallery, which gives a taste of what the weekend had to offer.

If you're going to be a journalist, can I suggest learning to differentiate between "there" and "their"?

Nice cars, though.

Didn't think that metallic gold was a colour available in the 60's.

Missed this year, but a group of us regularly go dressed in the appropriate outfits even one year as RAF personnel, great fun, great atmosphere.

Love the "Goldie" on 49 and I wonder what the insurance value was for the cars on 45, though I cannot see a "Spit" on 32, p51, p47 and Hurris yes, Spit no.

The bent Cobras will both get repaired, probably in time for the next Goodwood, not bad for a couple of 100,000s worth of motor, love the comment that the going was tricky in the damp, I seem to remember that for the Cobra the going could be tricky in the dry as well.

You can tell everything is from the 60's apart from the inside of tescos (image 14) - bar the old pence price tags, it would be like walking into your local supermarket today!
