The least reliable 4x4: Land Rover Range Rover (2002 onwards)
Average repair cost: £519
Reliability Index Rating: 305

With an index rating 52 points worse than the Jeep, there's not really any competition at all - the Range Rover is the least reliable used 4x4 you can buy. Two-thirds of faults were suspension or electrical, meaning pricey repair costs, too.

I would like to see tests where a 3.5 tonne trailer is hauled around a hilly circuit for at least 24 hours  (this test would preclude a lot of 4x4s immediately because they are not homologated to tow 3.5 tonnes)  Past experience with 4x4s is that as soon as they are given hard work to do they boil over and blow their head gaskets.  It seems that all the good 4x4s are ones that have been reverse-engineered by enthusiasts who have fitted uprated parts. The school run is no test whatsoever.

These are nothing more than fashion accessories, bought as status symbols by insecure poseurs with more money than sense. I don't think I've ever seen one further off-road than a country-house driveway.

this is complete bunk, this is without exception, the most reliable 4x4 i've ever owned!
