Motorway travel is not the best way of maximising the possible mileage, but stick to a steady 60mph and trucks shield the car from the worst of the wind drag. The Ion is happy at 70mph-plus too.

I tried electric cars at the Renault Z Road Show in Glasgow. The Twizy was a bit noisy, but certainly caused a deal of interest when it was going round the city streets. The model I fancied, the Clio-sized Zoe wasn't available to drive, but there was a display model.
I'd happily have an electric car because my journeys are almost always within the limits of their battery and the silence of the other Renault models I tried was just amazing.
The Peugeot mentioned here is fine, but the car looks tall and narrow on the road. I'm waiting for a Twingo-sized electric car from Renault. Now that would be perfect for me and at the prices quoted for its recharging, it's now very much cheaper than petrol or diesel.
