Peugeot Ion and Pod Point tested
The full price of a domestic charging station for an electric car is around £1,000. But with various grants, that cost can be drastically reduced. Now one company, Pod Point, which covers East Anglia and the Midlands, is offering a free station to owners of electric cars and plug-in hybrids.

I tried electric cars at the Renault Z Road Show in Glasgow. The Twizy was a bit noisy, but certainly caused a deal of interest when it was going round the city streets. The model I fancied, the Clio-sized Zoe wasn't available to drive, but there was a display model.
I'd happily have an electric car because my journeys are almost always within the limits of their battery and the silence of the other Renault models I tried was just amazing.
The Peugeot mentioned here is fine, but the car looks tall and narrow on the road. I'm waiting for a Twingo-sized electric car from Renault. Now that would be perfect for me and at the prices quoted for its recharging, it's now very much cheaper than petrol or diesel.
