The Lotus Cortina is a strong candidate for the world's first super saloon. It married the populist platform of Ford's everyman Cortina with a Lotus engine and chassis modifications to create a highly desirable road car and a highly successful racing machine. It's still great to drive today.

Yes. It's ironic that after all the fighting to use the Lotus name (not even Team Lotus or Team) in F1 the one's that have won are connect to the car manufacturers. The irony is if they now pull out of Formula 1. But that aside, Lotus is the iconic, charismatic,  team in F1 more than the others. They with Chapman loom over this sport still. The fact that the 1977 dominating Lotus 78 and the greatest F1 car have not been mentioned says it all. Along with the 86/88 twin chassis and carbon fibre kevlar materials that were along with Mclaren the first, and the first to enter a Grand Prix. The fact that they have had world Championship grand prix wins taken away from them, and really should of won 9 or 10 world championships has been over looked now.

And the fact that there has only been 3 comments, by two people says it all. If it were a lesser team like Ferrari, there would be hundreds of commentators.
