1998 saw Porsche honoured in the same year as the German manufacturer took its 16th overall victory at the Le Mans 24 hours, cementing its position as the most successful carmaker ever at La Sarthe. As a result, the firm's 917, 936, 956 and 911 GT1 endurance racers were all lofted high for the crowds to admire.
