Over 900 Ferraris gathered at the Silverstone racing circuit in an effort to set a world record for a gathering of one of the world's most favourite supercars. The existing record of 490 cars was set at Japan's Fuji Speedway Circuit in 2008.

Ferrari Formula One star Felipe Massa was guest of honour, leading the parade at the wheel of a Ferrari 458 Spider.

"It was a really unforgettable experience," commented Massa. "It's a great honour for me to be here for such a special event, with so many cars all brought together on one race track, which produced an unprecedented spectacle for all Prancing Horse fans."

Coordinated by Ferrari with the help of the British Ferrari Owners Club, it was all in aid of BEN, a charity that supports employees from the motor industry and their families. Ferrari donated £5 for every car attending.

All the necessary conditions were met for a world record to be ratified and put before the Guinness World Records Limited Commission, who will confirm the record by the end of next week.

In the meantime, feast your eyes on the occasion...

Keekee...anyone who falls for your spam deserves to get ripped off. How much do spammers earn, by the way? I imagine a bunch of you in a call-center type building in Delhi, typing away all day for very little money. That must suck.  Do you ever feel bad that you are giving people a false impression of a product that is, let's face it, CRAP. Good products don't employ internet spammers.

Without a doubt it was a magnificent display of iconic cars at Silverstone but having been very, very, fortunate in my job over the past 28 years to have driven many, many luxury, sports and superars such as Rolls Royces,Bentleys, Lambos, Ferrari's, TVR's, Porche;s etc. as well as other more mundane cars, if I were ever fortunate to win a big lottery jackpot, although I would probably buy a selection of the above mentioned, my first and second choice would always be an Aston Martin which in my humble opinion gives you both luxury and supercar status, and unless you have driven an Aston, a Ferrari and a Lambo over a period of 5 days despite the statistics of each car you cannot comprehend the difference. Possibly someone like Mr Jeremy Clarkson could venture an opiniion?
