Ferrari has revealed the open-top alternative to the 458 Italia, with the Ferrari 458 Spider making its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month.

It introduces a new concept for mid-engined open-air Ferraris, too: the 458 Spider debuts a new fully retractable hard-top that is so clever, Ferrari has even taken out a patent on it.

I love it! like most of you.

I hope the roof works as faultlessly as the engines do! unlike my 360.

Do miss the glass boot cover, really does present the engine in all its glory.

Finally when are Ferrari going to put carbon fibre in the engine bay, after 20,000 miles the engine bay looks crap.

Love the looks. Like that they haven't try to make it futuristic looking like a lot of other new cars and just gone for sexy. Not a big fan of the alloys tho.

It's a gorgeous car and no doubt it'll find lots of "victims"! It isn't right to compare Ferrari with the likes of McLaren and Lamborghini because Ferrari has something they don't, racing heritage and pedigree...that is what you are buying into. Also the 458 is such a gorgeous design that it'll be one for keeps............way after its residuals drop below £50K.........it is always going to be a stunner. Have had two Ferraris but to be honest with you, having ridden motorcycles for most of my life, including a turbocharged 1300 Hayabusa there is absolutely nothing on this planet that gives you the buzz of a superbike so I am going to save myself loads of dough and plum in for the Aprillia RSV4, the daddy! ;)

Have to add, I am not a ferrari man myself having driven the 355 and the 430. Have to drive this one, but I just generally prefer the lambo's. drives better, better road handling and the engine sounds better :) my humble opinion having had both.

and for the people who go on about chicks and babe magnet etc. you drive cars like this bcos you want to and can! of course everyone looks, but thats half the fun. and it is a babe magnet if you are looking for a one night stand, and no SANE supercar driver wud hook up with a girl who they have pulled in a car.

Don't think that I'll buy one, too happy with the GT2

Lovely though the 458 Spider is, the electronics are really the driver, as most users do not have the reflexes to drive it at its limit.  If you really want a full on experience try a Ducati!

I havn't got the 430 Spider, and I'm not getting this one when it's available. This is not bought by a man who has the money or wants a car that you CAN drive to near enough its full potential on british roads (country roads have a speed limit of 60 and accelerating to that speed after a tight 2nd gear corner and slide is awesome), and doesn't take it to the track every few months. So Mr Malcolm, you're not a small minded idiot you are someone like most of us that enjoy motoring safely on the roads and perhaps enjoy watching PROFESSIONAL racing drivers drive these amazing machines on race tracks and not silly idiots driving sideways on country roads and putting people and horses in danger!

Hi Ray (machomisima), so sorry you don't have the good looks to pull a babe! I don't have the money to buy this sort of car, but at least when I look in the mirror before I go out, I know that I don't need flashy toys to get laid by a beautiful lady, happy driving and be careful you don't get nicked for kerb crawling. lol!

Probably bought by a man who has a great deal of trouble finding his penis without a magnifying glass,

Whats the point of paying a ridiculous amount of money on a car that cannot be driven to it's full potential legally on british road's,

 If you drive it at its limit, then you have no regard for the safety of other road users;

I can afford to  own a Ferrari, so f**k you.

Thank you Modeo fans and (Someone) ?

Ferraris are for spoiled children.

Its not the car babes see as a magnet, its the capacity of your cheque book to buy it, and they translate its price into a nice house with a nice kitchen.

Rare is the babe who can appreciate a car like this.

They are FAR too sensible and I agree with them.

And Mondeos are NOT boring. They are just a (very good) machine and as adventurous  as the person who drives them.

Think I will have a cuppa and biscuit.

Mmmmmm......

Peace.

Dont envy something you can't have - for now. If you wish to plod along in your 9-5 and don't start your own business to increase your income then of course this car will be too expensive. If you can afford the car you can afford the MOT etc and won't dont just have the one car. I'll definitely trade in my r8 for a convertible 458 and 2 years ago I was working for B.T. so if i can do it so can you.

Yours is not the ONLY truth>

I think you'll find these cars are intended for those who can have the Mondeo for every day use AND the Ferrari for whenever we fancy.

Agree with Frenchie below, I thought the Mclaren had maybe just pipped the 458 but...

I wonder what the Mclaren would be like in a convertible.
