Aston Martin is celebrating its 100th anniversary with the CC100 – but it’s not the first to do this…

Sir Stirling Moss OBE was born in 1929, and during his extraordinary driving career, competed in over 500 races.
He is now lending his support to charity Prostate UK to help raise funds and awareness of prostate diseases in the UK.
WHAT DO YOU DRIVE?
I don't own a road car, so I drive a three-wheel scooter. I live in the middle of London, and a car is no benefit at all. I still race though, in historic cars I know and understand.
WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST CAR?
My first car was an Austin 7, that was for off-road, and my first car to go out on the road was a Morgan three-wheeler.
WHAT WAS YOUR BEST/WORST CAR?
A car I enjoyed very much was a thing called the Facel Vega. It had a great big Chrysler engine, and I had to drive it all round Europe from race to race, and it was really good for that.
I've never had a worst car - if I'd had one, I would have got rid of it. I think nowadays all cars are pretty good, there's no two ways about it.
WHAT IS YOUR DREAM CAR?
I don't really have one, just because the trouble is there's no enjoyment in driving on the road. So to take a really good-handling car and go on to a racetrack, that would be my dream, and I'm able to live it every now and again because I'm still racing.
DO YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF TO BE A GOOD DRIVER?
Yes, I think so. I do look in the mirror and watch the road and so on and so forth, so fairly good!
WHAT DO YOU ALWAYS KEEP IN YOUR GLOVEBOX?
An A to Z of London, so I know where I'm going, and also a compass, so I know which direction I'm facing.
WHAT DRIVES YOU MAD BEHIND THE WHEEL?
Being on the motorway and somebody being in the right-hand lane, never moving over, which unfortunately over here is quite common.
WHAT'S THE BEST MUSIC TO DRIVE TO?
I like pop music, but not modern pop so much as the music of the 1950s, and that sort of era. I love Frank Sinatra and Barbra Streisand.
HAVE YOU EVER HAD A CRASH?
Lots of them. The last one forced me out of racing, which was pretty bad. I had to work for a living, rather than doing what I enjoyed so much. I could see that I wasn't competent to continue racing in the way that I used to race, so it was a hard decision but easy to make.
WHO WOULD BE YOUR PERFECT PASSENGER?
Now, my perfect passenger would be my wife, but when I was younger, I would have said a pretty girl. Luckily, my wife is a pretty girl so it's worked out that way as well!
WHAT'S THE CRAZIEST THING YOU'VE EVER DONE IN A CAR?
One crazy thing I did as a passenger was when a guy drove me round a circuit, Brands Hatch I seem to remember, on two wheels. That was pretty crazy, but I wasn't driving.
WHO CLEANS YOUR CAR, AND HOW OFTEN?
I do share my wife's car now and then, so I would say that usually I do, but then she does as well, so we share it between us really.
