Pedal-powered camper van to bring new dimension in budget holidays?
Ian Waite is best known for being one of the professionals on Strictly Come Dancing.
WHAT DO YOU DRIVE?
A BMW Coupe.
WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST CAR?
A Datsun Cherry. It was metallic light green - very attractive! Actually, at the time I thought it was great.
WHAT WAS YOUR BEST/WORST CAR?
The car I loved was a yellow MR2, and it looked like a bit of Ferrari and it really stood out as being a sports car. I got rid of it because it was getting quite old and I needed a newer, more reliable car.
All my cars have been quite good, but the worst one was the Polo I had after the MR2 because it was too small, with not enough headroom. I believe they'd since changed it, but at the time it was no good for me - I'm tall with a long neck, so I felt like I needed to stick my head out of the roof!
WHAT IS YOUR DREAM CAR?
A convertible Bentley Continental.
DO YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF TO BE A GOOD DRIVER?
Yes. Sometimes I'm a little patient, but most of the time I'm fine.
WHAT DO YOU ALWAYS KEEP IN YOUR GLOVEBOX?
The manual for the car and a scraper for the ice on the windows.
WHAT DRIVES YOU MAD BEHIND THE WHEEL?
People who don't signal.
WHAT'S THE BEST MUSIC TO DRIVE TO?
I always like some sort of poppy music. And I sing along too. We go off all over the country and do lots of shows all over the place, and so after the show when you're going home, everybody starts singing in the car, which is quite fun.
HAVE YOU EVER HAD A CRASH?
I had a few when I was younger, but not since I was about 21. Most of them were caused by not taking due care and attention of what was happening while I was driving, so I'd end up in the back of somebody.
WHO WOULD BE YOUR PERFECT PASSSENGER?
Somebody who wasn't a backseat driver.
WHAT'S THE CRAZIEST THING YOU'VE EVER DONE IN A CAR?
I'm normally quite safe, but I've probably got changed for a competition in a car before because we've been so late getting there, with my dad driving me.
WHO CLEANS YOUR CAR AND HOW OFTEN?
I have some lovely Polish men at the bottom of the road who clean cars for a living. I usually take it there about once a fortnight.
