The Hairy Bikers

Chefs Si King and Dave Myers are better known as The Hairy Bikers. They know a thing or two about bikes and a thing or three about cooking.

WHAT DO YOU DRIVE/RIDE?
Si King: I ride an Aprilia Caponord and a hand built custom [bike]. I drive Alfa Romeo and Land Rover.

Dave Myers: I ride a Moto Guzzi California vintage; a Hawg Haven Custom; loads of different bikes for work, and I drive a BMW M6.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST BIKE?
Si: A Yamaha XS 650 US Custom. I painted it red put a hard tail on it and re named it the flying haemorrhoid.

Dave: My first bike was a Cossack Ural Mars MK3.

WHAT WAS YOUR BEST/WORST BIKE?
Si: The best bike is the one your riding at the time, and your worst bike is always the one that doesn't start or starts and then for no apparent reason stops.

Dave: Best Bike was a Moto Guzzi Le Mans 3; worst bike was the Cossack Ural Mars MK3.

WHAT IS YOUR DREAM BIKE?
Si: I would love a Brough Superior.

Dave: Dream bike is a Vincent Black Shadow.

DO YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF TO BE A GOOD RIDER?
Si: I'm a safe, defensive rider I think.

Dave: Can't be bad. I am still alive.

WHAT DO YOU ALWAYS KEEP IN YOUR PANNIERS?
Si: Waterproofs, bottled water and Polo Fruits.

Dave: I always keep jump leads and spare gloves.

WHAT DRIVES YOU MAD ON THE ROADS?
Si: Car drivers and w****** in vans.

Dave: Arrogant middle-aged drivers and caravans.

WHAT'S THE BEST MUSIC TO DRIVE TO?
Si: Rock without a doubt. LOVE A GOOD ROCK TRACK.

Dave: Anything by The Scorpions or Shaggy.

HAVE YOU EVER HAD A CRASH?
Si: OHHHHH YES!!! Try and avoid it if you can - It hurts.

Dave: Yes, on Mad Sunday four years ago on the Isle of Man. Got a broken wrist and a bust shoulder.

WHO WOULD BE YOUR PERFECT PASSENGER?
Si: A very attractive rock chick with tight leather pants - my wife.

Dave: Perfect passenger would be Penelope Cruz on a gastronomic tour of Spain.

WHAT'S THE CRAZIEST THING YOU'VE EVER DONE ON A BIKE?
Si: Launched myself off the top of a sand dune in the Namibian Dessert.

Dave: Craziest thing I have ever done on a bike was to ride through South London dressed as a white rabbit on way to a fancy dress party in Streatham.

WHO CLEANS YOUR BIKE AND HOW OFTEN?
Si: I do, but only when it's dirty. I'm not a polisher.

Dave: Bike gets cleaned by me about once a year.
