These images are from the 2012 World Finals, which took place last week. The first Land Speed Record set at the Salt Flats was recorded back in 1914, however, when 'Terrible' Teddy Tetzlaff drove the 300hp "Blitzen Benz 2" to 142.8mph - though the first car to actually test the surface took to the pan in 1907.
