The All New Vauxhall Astra. And action!
The British-built, all-new Vauxhall Astra had its World Premiere at the Frankfurt International Motor Show on 15th September 2009. Designed with beauty and efficiency in mind, a graceful silhouette harmonises the new Astra's muscular shoulder lines with a steeply-raked windscreen and falling roof-line, redefining hatchback design and turning the Astra into something... more.
Sporty yet elegant design
The all-new Astra will have heads turning. Despite its hatchback practicality, the Astra has a coupé like profile. With its sporty and confident stance, accentuated by signature lighting, the all-new Astra redefines traditional hatchback design inside and out. With more than 600 hours wind-tunnel testing under its belt, the Astra's curves deliver an impressive level of aerodynamic efficiency, benefitting performance, economy, and overall refinement.
Quality from within - spacious, classy and practical interior
The all-new Astra is full of thoughtful, well executed detailing. Dependent on trim level you are welcomed into the cabin with red ambient lighting from the centre console, overhead flood light and ambient door lights.
The new Astra also delivers flexible practicality with clever features like the FlexFloor system and the three-way adjustable floor in the boot (standard on SE, Elite and SRi models - optional on other trims) which makes loading the all-new Astra easy.
A real performer
When you're in touch with the latest innovative technology, life just becomes simpler, safer and stress-free. With the new Astra you're connected to the road with a new suspension set-up for seriously improved ride and agility. The FlexRide system - the optional integrated, fully-adaptive Chassis Control System - provides a different driving feel to match your mood. The new Astra also features optional Adaptive Forward Lighting, the most advanced headlight system in its class, and the movable elements in the sleek bi-xenon headlights automatically adjust themselves to different conditions, ensuring safer and more relaxed driving. AFL greatly enhances visibility through curves and sharp bends, making night-driving significantly easier.
Ergonomic sports seat - better comfort, better support
The all-new Vauxhall Astra brings you class-leading, fully orthopaedic Ergonomic Sports Seat, standard on the Elite model and optional on all other trim levels. The driver's seat adjusts eight ways with additional four-way lumbar support, to suit your posture perfectly. An adjustable seat cushion extension provides relaxing leg support. At the top end, you can choose our perforated leather version, with standard seat-heating for extra comfort. Alternatively, the cloth-covered version provides the same high level of orthopaedic support.
Even the standard seats are an example of the upscale qualities of the all-new Astra. They have the best adjustment ranges in the industry, including a height adjustment range of 65mm and a length adjustment range of 280mm, allowing drivers and passengers of all sizes to find their ideal seating position.
Infotainment - never lost, always entertained
Whether it's traffic information or dynamic navigation that you want or accessing preferred radio stations and using your iPod, the integrated infotainment systems in the all-new Astra are as good to look at as they are responsive to use.
The optional CD 500 Navi has CD input for navigation and 1GB of flash memory. It also has seven premium speakers, seven-inch colour monitor, digital travel guide/scroll zoom functions, iPod/MP3 ports with iPod interface offering functions such as track list, and postcode recognition.
Stunning performance and efficiency
Whilst the all-new Astra is dynamic to drive and a great performer, its ECOTEC® engines also cut both fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by more than 12 per cent compared with the current generation of powertrains. All engines meet the Euro 5 emission standards - in other words, ECOTEC® engines prove it's possible to balance lively performance with fuel efficiency and low emissions.
Both diesel and petrol variants are available with an advanced, precise and easy-shifting five or six-speed manual transmission, while an all-new automatic six-speed transmission with ActiveSelect® is available on the 2.0 CDTi and all petrol engines except the 1.4 ECOTEC and 1.6 Turbo.
