Low on costs and emissions
Electric driving is cost-effective. To recharge Ampera's battery, just plug it into any standard three-pin socket*. CO₂ emissions are 27g/km while driving, which means Ampera qualifies for zero car tax, is exempt from the London Congestion Charge and qualifies for the Government Plug-in Car Grant.
Dynamic to drive
You'll be surprised how much fun electric driving can be. The nearly silent electric drive unit packs quite a punch with 370 Nm of torque and 111 kW of electric power- the equivalent of 150 PS giving the Ampera a limited top speed of 100 mph. Full torque from zero speed takes the car from 0-60 mph in less than nine seconds. A petrol engine has to rev up to 3000-4000 rpm to reach that performance.
With its dynamic, almost aggressive stance, the Ampera may look like a concept car but its sleek aerodynamics are there for good reason: to help maximise the driving range and lower emissions. Inside, Ampera offers the space and comfort you expect from a modern car with five doors, four seats and a storage capacity of more than 300 litres. Its high safety standards have been confirmed with a five-star Euro NCAP rating.
Electric driving without compromise

The Vauxhall Ampera. The revolutionary electric vehicle that brings you everyday mobility without compromise, thanks to its extended range propulsion system.
A lithium-ion battery powers the Ampera 25 to 50 miles - enough to cover the daily commute. When the battery runs low, Ampera's range extender kicks in. This petrol-powered generator supplies electricity for up to a further 310 miles. Electricity is used to drive the wheels at all times and speeds.

*Before you start charging with a current that's stronger than 6A, ensure that the designated power circuit and the outlet have been checked by a professional electrician and approved for this stronger current
