Funny we should mention that new Ferrari museum...
...as by complete coincidence I've ended up visiting it today.

I'm not going to be at the annual SMMT test day – a kind of playground for motoring hacks – with the rest of my colleagues tomorrow, as I've somehow drawn the short straw and ended up in Italy on a Maserati launch. If that doesn't sound very convincing, that's because it's not. I'm in Modena, getting ready to drive the new 460hp GranTurismo Sport, which replaces the GranTurismo S in suitably flamboyant fashion. As well as an extra dollop of power, the Sport gets a subtly aggressive new look plus changes to the suspension and the interior.
It remains drop dead gorgeous, obviously.
I don't get to drive the car until tomorrow, but by bizarre coincidence, I have just spent a couple of hours at the Museo Casa Enzo Ferrari that Sean wrote about earlier in the week.
Run by an independent foundation, the museum celebrates all car making in this region of Italy, rather than just Ferrari, and is actually located about three minutes' walk from Maserati's headquarters. Given this, the building's architectural beauty and the quality of the vehicles on show inside, it served as a perfect backdrop to this evening's press conference. We even got a guided tour from the grandson of Adolti Orsi, the man who owned Maserati from 1937 to 1968.
