Biography: Richard Dredge

Contributor

Richard Dredge

Richard is one of MSN's band of enthusiast anoraks, ever eager to dig up nuggets of automotive trivia long forgotten by the rest of the world. A regular contributor, Richard helps with motor show coverage plus the sourcing of images of obscure cars through his picture library, Magic Car Pics.

While still at university in the late 1990s, Richard started writing on a freelance basis for Practical Classics magazine but joined the staff of What Car? upon his graduation. He was recruited to work on the fledgling What Car? Online, but quickly defected to rival Top Gear online.

Since starting to write about cars in 1997, Richard has written for Practical Classics, Classic Car Weekly, Octane, Classic Cars and others, while also contributing regularly to Auto Express, Auto Trader and Diesel Car. He also edits First Car, which is aimed at helping new drivers get the most out of their new-found freedom.

As a fan of classics as well as moderns, Richard has one of each; a 1969 Triumph Vitesse Mk2 convertible as well as a 2002 Audi A4 Avant. He'd be happy to give them both away though, if he was given either an AC Ace or a Lamborghini Miura to replace the Triumph, and an RS6 in return for the A4. All offers gratefully received.

In December 2011 he won the IAM Safety Award at the annual Guild of Motoring Writers awards.
