Seven-seat version of Fiat 500L revealed with new ‘Multi Purpose Wagon’
Biography: David Long

David has been a motoring journalist since 1983, after taking a second class degree at a first class university.
He briefly edited a magazine about sex, and then one about cars, before combining the two and turning freelance.
For 25 years, under a variety of aliases, he was motoring editor of Penthouse, Mayfair, Men Only, Club International and others in a similar vein here and overseas.
During that time David drove in excess of 2,200 different cars, from a 19th century Renault around Paris to a hydrogen powered BMW on a high-speed bowl, with personal highlights including a Ferrari 250 GTO in Portugal, a McLaren F1 on the M25 and a 'Blower' Bentley along the lanes of Suffolk where he lives.
When off-duty David's transport requirements are shared between an Audi A2 and an equally advanced but unorthodox bicycle designed by Alex Moulton (of Mini-suspension fame) and he admits to being fascinated by Gordon Murray's T25 project but sceptical about its funny door.
Otherwise he continues to write the sort of books he likes to read, with a particular focus on lesser known aspects of London and its architecture. www.davidlong.info for more details.
